“Kasujja & Jayden Join Elite KFB Boxing Academy, Set to Shine in the USA”

In a landmark moment for Ugandan boxing, Henry Kasujja Kigongo, popularly known as “Stopper,” and rising talent Jayden, are set to become the first tag team from the same local boxing camp to advance their careers in the United States. The announcement comes from Stephen Ssembuya, CEO of 12 Sports Rounds Promotions, who has been a central figure in shaping professional boxing in Uganda over the past decade.

Ssembuya, reflecting on the journey, emphasized the qualities often missing in Uganda’s boxing scene: faith, belief, consistency, patience, and big dreams. “Over and over again, these have been the roadblocks to success for many boxers, managers, and promoters,” he said.

Four years ago, 12 Sports Rounds Promotions caused what is described as the biggest exodus from amateur to professional boxing in Uganda’s history. The promotion signed top talents including Shadir Musa, David Semujju, Isaac Sebuufu, and Swalik Kisitu, helping them achieve national prominence. However, according to Ssembuya, many of these boxers eventually left the camp, going against the core principles instilled by the team.

Despite setbacks, Ssembuya’s team continued to nurture talent. Isaac Masembe, once ranked over 900 in the world, was elevated to the top 100 through their guidance. “He too eventually left us, but his progress is a testament to what the right guidance can achieve,” Ssembuya noted.

Among the fighters who have stayed true to the camp’s vision, Henry Kasujja stands out. “He listened to the haters but stayed true to our guidance. He has worked tirelessly and remained disciplined, which is why he’s ready for this next big step,” Ssembuya said.

The duo’s move to the United States represents a historic opportunity. Kasujja and Jayden will enter the global boxing market, with Jayden joining the KFB Boxing Academy, a world-class program that has produced elite fighters such as Shakur Stevenson, Abdullah Mason, the Grandy twins, Kingy Jr, and AP.

Impact on Ugandan Boxing
This milestone could have profound effects on the sport in Uganda:

  • Raising the profile of Ugandan boxing internationally, attracting global promoters and sponsors.
  • Creating a pathway for other homegrown boxers to reach top boxing markets.
  • Strengthening local training camps as they gain recognition for producing world-class talent.
  • Inspiring a new generation of young athletes to pursue professional boxing with discipline and long-term vision.

Ssembuya concluded, “This achievement is the result of hard work, vision, and, above all, God’s guidance. We hope it marks the beginning of a new era for Ugandan boxing.”
